Hello! I’m Ashley McDonnell, a Dancer, Choreographer, Communications Specialist, Art Lover, Shower Singer and Coffee Enthusiast. I’m glad you’re here.
Currently, I am a recent graduate of East Carolina University, holding a Bachelor of Science in Communications with a concentration in Public Relations, as well as a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance and Choreography. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with distinction from the Honors College, in May 2021.
At graduation, I was awarded the Outstanding Senior in Dance Performance and Choreography award, as a reflection of the hard work and dedication that I brought to my academic career.
I pride myself on being an excellent communicator which has allowed me the opportunity to act as a student representative at The School of Theatre and Dance faculty meetings and serve as a liaison between the students and faculty members, providing insight, ideas, and pertinent information to each party. In addition to the academic requirements, I have been heavily involved as a leader in the Dance Department at ECU. I have worked as an Alumni Outreach and Professional Networking Intern for the Dance Department for two years and have served as a Teacher's Assistant for the Dance Kinesiology course, Concert Coordinator for Lights Up!, a completely student run and choreographed show, Secretary and later President of East Carolina Dance Association, as well as being a member of the Honors College and a scholarship recipient from the Honors College and The School of Theatre and Dance. Serving as a leader in a variety of clubs and organizations, I have relied on my organizational skills in order to support my fellow peers and maintain focus for all of my academic endeavors.
My willingness to learn and absorb all of the information available, collaborate with like-minded, creative workers, and connect with individuals will prove to be valuable in maintaining a positive working environment. I believe that communication and trust allow for an environment where everyone has the room to grow, and this is what I hope to contribute to in the workplace.
I am a firm believer that creativity is essential to making an impact in the world, and the ability to think outside the box is one of the most valuable skills to possess in the workplace. As an artist and a creative, I always work towards fostering a positive work environment where all members of a team can collaborate and grow together. I am dedicated to making meaningful work and encouraging others to develop their craft and invest in their art. As a professional I am drawn to the arts sector, including, but not limited to, fine arts and the performing arts. Mentors, collaborators, and colleagues alike have commended me on my work ethic, as I fully immerse and dedicate myself to all work endeavors and projects.
